When I was in Trinidad, Cuba, all of the children played chess and most of the grown-ups played chess too.  The hotel we stayed in had many children in it and they were very hard to beat at chess.  Right next to the hotel is a chess club where I was taught chess strategies.

There was once a chess tournament in Trinidad, Cuba with one thousand participants in it.  In one tournament, one person played twenty people at the same time.  There is even a chess festival weekend in another town called Bayamo, where the whole town plays.

I think you would meet some good chess players if you went to Cuba.
